Simssee in the spring

Eggstätt-Hemhofer-Seenplatte – Bavaria’s oldest nature reserve
North of Lake Chiemsee lies one of the most valuable natural landscapes in Bavaria: the “Biotopeverbund Eggstätt Hemhofer Seenplatte and Seeoner Seen”. This joint conservation project of the rural districts of Rosenheim and Traunstein pursues the goal of preserving a landscape created by the glaciers of the Ice Age with their biodiversity and fascination for man and nature.

Chiemsee – Alz in autumn
In Seebruck begins the only outflow of Lake Chiemsee: the Alz. From here it takes its path and meanders through the landscape of the Chiemgau, until it finally flows into the Inn. On foot and by bike you can follow their course on the “Klosterradweg” or can be carried in the boat by their current.
